Shining Star Builders was founded in March 2003 by Eugene D. Semple as a Non-Profit 501(c) (3) Community Benefit Corporation with two distinct objectives. The first goal focused on offering paid vocational training in the residential and commercial construction trades to a variety of underserved groups, including disadvantaged and at-risk youth, persons with disabilities, single parents, and veterans. This initiative aimed to provide meaningful job opportunities and skill development for individuals facing barriers to employment.

The second goal of Shining Star Builders centered on the design, manufacture, and construction of homes that were not only structurally superior and of higher quality but also engineered for precision, performance, affordability, and visual appeal. By integrating advanced building techniques, the organization sought to raise the standard for affordable housing while making it accessible to those in need.

Evolved into Structurally Superior Solutions

In June 2010, Eugene D. Semple launched Structurally Superior Solutions as a for-profit entity, expanding the original mission to provide paid vocational training in residential and commercial construction trades. The focus remained on supporting disadvantaged and at-risk youth, individuals with disabilities, single parents, and veterans. The organization also pursued the vision of designing, manufacturing, and building homes with exceptional quality, performance, and affordability, continuing its dedication to improving lives and communities through workforce development and innovative housing solutions.

Structurally Superior Solutions searched extensively for a rural property with enough acreage to build four prototype homes. The search was challenging due to limited buildable land and factors like cost, terrain, access to utilities, zoning, local regulations, and proximity to public transportation.

In June 2020, Gene inspected a 26-acre site in Tenaja, California, known for its steep slopes and rocky, gravel-covered roads. While navigating the area, he slipped on gravel while climbing a steel gate, dislocating his right knee and shoulder. His real estate agent and the listing agent assisted him back to his vehicle, and Gene drove himself to the hospital using only his left arm.

Despite these challenges, Gene continued his search and eventually secured a three-million-dollar loan for land and construction. However, progress was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which limited access to county offices and appointments with the Murrieta planning department.

Resurrected as Gene Semple Consulting

In December 2024, Gene received the incredible news from his doctor that his PET scan showed no signs of cancer! Praise God! So, what's next?

Gene’s experience spans building custom residential homes, commercial and industrial buildings, restaurants, and undertaking extensive remodeling and renovations of all kinds. He has maintained numerous apartment complexes with hundreds of units in La Jolla, California, and managed significant property renovations, maintenance, and management for six four-plex units and one twelve-unit apartment complex in Hemet, California.
